NAAC - National Assessment and Accreditation Council The National Assessment And Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country. It is an outcome of the recommendations of the National Policy in Education (1986) that laid special emphasis on upholding the quality of higher education in India. Much of the accreditation process is on-line at the website of NAAC. The NAAC functions through its General Council (GC) and Executive Committee (EC) where educational administrators, policy makers and senior academicians from a cross-section of the system of higher education are represented. The Chairperson of the UGC is the President of the GC of the NAAC, the Chairperson of the EC is an eminent academician in the area of relevance to the NAAC. National
Board of Accreditation (NBA)
of National Board of Accreditation is a constituent of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) the quality regulation arm of Human Resources and Higher Education Ministry of Government of India. It was constituted as an autonomous body under Section 10(u) of the AICTE Act,1987 "To periodically conduct evaluation of technical Institutions or Programmes on the basis of guidelines; norms and standards specified by it and to make recommendation for recognition or de-recognition of the institution or programme." To develop a Quality Conscious system of Technical Education where excellence, relevance to market needs and participation by all stake holders are prime the major determinants. NBA is dedicated to building a technical education system, as vendors of human resources, that will match the national goals of growth by competence, contributions to economy through competitiveness and compatibility to societal development. It is to provide the Quality bench marks targeted at Global and National Stockpile of human capital in all fields of technical education.
