The two-day meet, the third annual
event being organized by the Standards for Educational Advancement &
Accreditation (SEAA) Trust, New Delhi, the first Indian global higher
education quality advocacy organization follows an unique model of bringing
together highly rated top notch accrediting bodies from around the world.
This year six accrediting bodies including AACSB International, ACBSP,
IACBE, Association of MBAs (AMBA), British Accreditation Council &
South Asian Quality Systems (SAQS) attended the conference. A comprehensive
Hand Book on International Accreditation was released by the Director
of IIM Indore, Dr N Ravichandran. The conference had the respective accreditation
process presentations from all the six participants followed by
experience sharing presentations by schools from India that have already
received the international accreditation certifications. An open house series of experience sharing presentations by the institutions that have taken up international accreditation concluded the conference. The participants unanimously felt that there is an urgent need fo taking international accreditation to face growing pressure for quality within the country and also the onslaught of competition expected from the top quality international business schools likely to enter the country soon. International accrediting efforts has been picking up in India with over 60 schools having taken up international accreditation process and six having already obtained their certification. This number would cross 100 before the end of the current academic year. SEAA had committed to bring to India the benchmarks of quality from around the world to the Indian B-schools on their quest becoming world-class campuses. It is a matter of pride for us that when SEAA began its advocacy work two years earlier, there were hardly three or four international accreditations being pursued by top Indian schools. Now there are over 60 such accreditations are being pursued around the country and four new accreditations have been granted to the Indian schools in the current year alone. The B-schools were IIM A (EQUIS-EFMD), IIM B (EQUIS-EFMD), S P Jain (Association of MBAs) PSG Institute of Management , Coimbatore(ACBSP). These schools join with two other schools MDI Gurgaon (Association of MBAs ) and Alliance Business Academy, Bangalore (IACBE) as internationally accredited schools. We strongly believe that international
accreditation is the way to go to define quality in the emerging scenario
of intense international competition thanks to the urgent reforms being
carried out in the Higher Education sector leading to new opportunities
for the Indian B-schools. This is a rare opportunity for the participants to learn, interact and clarify their doubts on international accreditation from all the accreditation agency leadership who would be present. There would be separate presentations from each of the accrediting agency and the sessions would also have case presentations from accredited B-schools or those who are undergoing the process from these respective accrediting bodies.
