In
the new wave of economic upswing started in the turn of the millennium,
the Asia Pacific region has become the beehive of activity in
the higher education area. A number of top universities, technology
and management institsutes are being set up and the buzz is about
global quality endorsed by the best of the accreditation agencies.
There is also a strong feeling that the regional interests will
be best served with the setting up regional accreditation bodies
with a pan Asia Pacific reach. The first such body is being worked
upon by the AAPBS itself.
We
will be tracking the developments in the region listing the initiations
and initiatives that guarantee the growth of higher education
benchmarked with the best in the world. We start the series by
focusing on the Association
of Asia Pacifc Business Schools (AAPBS) an ambitious
initiative started by 11 Business schools from the region including
that of Indian Institute of Managemnet Ahmedbad in the year 2004.
The AAPBS has promised to develop an Asia Pacific wide accreditation
process with the help of international accreditation agencies.
