In the new wave of economic upswing started in the turn of the millennium, the Asia Pacific region has become the beehive of activity in the higher education area. A number of top universities, technology and management institsutes are being set up and the buzz is about global quality endorsed by the best of the accreditation agencies. There is also a strong feeling that the regional interests will be best served with the setting up regional accreditation bodies with a pan Asia Pacific reach. The first such body is being worked upon by the AAPBS itself.

We will be tracking the developments in the region listing the initiations and initiatives that guarantee the growth of higher education benchmarked with the best in the world. We start the series by focusing on the Association of Asia Pacifc Business Schools (AAPBS) an ambitious initiative started by 11 Business schools from the region including that of Indian Institute of Managemnet Ahmedbad in the year 2004. The AAPBS has promised to develop an Asia Pacific wide accreditation process with the help of international accareditation agencies.

Genesis: The movement for bringing together the B-schools in the Asia Pacific region began at the turn of the new millennium with the regional business schools meeting in Korea in 2001, Taiwan in 2002, Hong Kong in 2003, Australia in 2004 culminating in the historic Seoul conference on October 17,2004 when the Association of Asia Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) was formally launched. In October that year, the AAPBS Constititution was jointly designed by the 11 participating schools from the region The constituton guranteed the support of the AAPBS to the development of high quality in management education in the region.


The list of B-schools from India in this group currently include:
